Recovering From A Weight Loss Setback

The dreaded weight loss setback….it happens to each of us at least once on our weight loss journey. We go on vacation have a great time only to come back and step on the scale. When we do, we’ve gained back some weight and are disappointed. Or, you could be an emotional eater who is going through a personal crisis that results in added pounds.

Dealing with a weight loss setback is a part of weight loss and probably happens to everyone at one time or another. There is probably never a time when everything in our life went according to plan. If it does then you need to write a book and let the rest of us know the trick. Assuming that it has not, it is something that we must learn to deal with or it can really bring you down and keep you there.

When this setback occurs you must make a choice between struggling to recover and continuing to slide back into old habits. Before the choice is made, we must realize something about ourselves. It’s okay to slip up. Forgive yourself and forget that it ever happened.

Once you decide to struggle and recover, try to discover what caused the setback in the first place. The answer will help you to avoid repeating the same pattern again. A common cause of setbacks in weight loss is emotional eating. Unfortunately, you don’t find out that you are an emotional eater until you get emotional and begin to eat.

This is not considered normal eating. Emotional eaters eat to relieve stress. You don’t have to be hungry. The act of eating something that pleases you releases those same “feel good” endorphins as exercise. It’s a cruel joke, I know, but there it is. The trick is to pinpoint emotional eating before you’ve gained too much weight.

Find someone to lose weight along with you. They will be able to encourage you and also tell you when you seem to be heading towards another weight loss setback. They can also be helpful by telling you the truth and not just what you want to hear and in turn you can do the same for them. By pointing out the good attributes to someone else, you will learn to do it for yourself.

When it comes to struggling and dealing with weight loss and the inevitable setbacks that come with it, it is never pleasant. As you battle back, your mind may tell you that you messed up. Learn to ignore it by replacing that negative feedback with positive words of encouragement. Accentuate the positive things about yourself. Are you a star at your job? Tell yourself how good you are at what you do. If you have kids, bask in the knowledge that you are a great mom or dad.

Being on a diet and dealing with a Weight loss setback is a process. Even when you lose the weight, you must work to maintain that loss and continue to be healthy and fit. Don’t give up early in the game. Learn to deal with setbacks and get on with working towards your weight loss goals.

Weight Loss Patch- A Quick Fix For Weight Loss

With our fast pace economic growth, more and more people are putting on weight. This is not surprising given that our diets consist of more processed food that contain more fat and sugar and we are getting little or no regular exercise. Jobs that used to require physical movement are replaced with those that require only buttons to be pushed while watching television, playing video games and surfing the Internet are becoming our main past times.

Fortunately, this is balanced by people being more aware of their health. As a result, people are constantly looking out for quick and easy ways to lose weight. Marketers saw this as a great opportunity to launch weight loss products that promised a quick fix. One of such products is the weight loss patch. Sometimes they are also known as the diet patch.

Weight Loss Patch
You can say that the weight loss patch is a dream come true for people who are looking to lose weight or to go on a diet. Imagine all you need to do is to put on such a patch and you will be able to make your fats melt away.

Advertisers claimed that by using weight loss patches, you will experience lessened hunger pangs and other symptoms generally associated with weight reduction and this will help to jump-start your metabolism, dramatically increasing your body’s ability to burn fat.

Sounds interesting, isn’t it. But do these patches really work? And are they safe?

Do They Work?
Firstly, what is inside these weight loss patches? Looking at the main ingredients, you will find that they are not exactly anything special.

Some ingredients, like chromium and guarana have subtle effects and will not lead to much weight loss without accompanying changes to diet and lifestyle. Other ingredients like hydroxycitric acid and bladderwrack do not have much going for them in the way of proven results.

So, are weight loss patches worth experimenting with? To answer that question, let us examine what the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), the watch dog agency that ensures that false advertising is kept at bay, has done. Recently, the FTC launched a campaign to help consumers spot claims that almost always signal a diet rip-off.

Weighing the evidence in diet ads, the FTC warns consumers to steer clear of diet pills, patches, creams, or other products that offer quick weight loss without diet or exercise. Products that claim to block the absorption of fat, calories, or carbohydrates; or that promise that consumers can eat all they want of high-calorie foods and still lose weight are being targeted. Some advertisers had to pay claims as they were unable to provide scientifically supported evidence to support their claims.

So what is the bottom line?
The bottom line is that the only thing that is going to lose weight when you buy those magic patches is your wallet. You need to know that weight loss experts all agree on one thing- if you consume fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight and if you consume more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. It is that simple.

We all wish for a magic pill that will make losing weight a simple and painless task. However, until the arrival of such a miracle pill, a sensible, well-balanced diet coupled with a reasonable exercise program is, always has been and always will be the surest and safest way to lose weight permanently.

Stuff You Should Know When Doing Quick Weight Loss

A number of people who are becoming obese are increasing as years go by. Products and programs that offer weight loss solutions have emerged in the market today due to this trend.

People tend to resort to these products that can help them lose weight, safe, fast, and easy since losing weight has become tiresome and frustration to most people. Are these quick weight loss products effective to permanent and healthy weight loss?

WEIGHING DISADVANTAGES OVER ADVANTAGES

Although using these products, might be convenient, hassle-free, and easy, its effectivity and safety are not always determined or guaranteed.

People who are thinking of having quick weight loss and fad diets should think twice before they try taking in any product or engaging into diets. Choosing gradual weight loss can provide you professional help and can provide you proven eating choices and patterns that can help you develop the discipline you need in order to lose weight in the run. You can also learn specific diet recommendations that are suited for your needs if you opt not to engage in quick weight loss alternatives.

Based on numerous health researches, quick weight loss-achieved through improper diet-overemphasizes a particular food type. Aside from violating the basic principle of good nutrition, quick weight loss diets also breaks the second significant rule that is enjoyable eating.

THE BEST WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT

Experts advise that quick weight loss greatly affects a person’s total well-being. It can even result to more serious health risks if a wrong product is taken. Authorities in the health and nutrition world advice people who would want to lose weight to stick to the best way of losing unwanted fats and that is to eat balanced diet.

Eating a balanced diet can help the reduction of weight greatly. Coupled with regular physical activities or exercises that improves cardiovascular health, there’s no way that you cannot lose weight in time.

More Tips to Improve your Weight Loss

If you are like me you are probably totally sick of dieting because every time you stop the weight comes flooding back on and you just cant stop it!

I have put together 10 more weight loss tips to try and sway you away from the dieting run around and to try and put you on a more steady and healthy course of weight loss.

Lets have a look at them:

Move More - Take every opportunity to expend more energy. Don’t drive if you can walk, don’t walk if you can run. See activity as an opportunity rather than an inconvenience. General moving burns a big 70% of your daily calories so try to Eat Less and Move More.

We keep looking for a fast, magical, fat loss, weight loss, health and fitness miracle but what would happen if we applied the simple concept of eating less and moving more.

Eat less junk food, eat more fruit and veggie foods, Get some regular cardio based exercise, Get stronger to protect your body, improve your quality of life and turn your body into a fat burning machine and stick with it rather than giving up after one week.

Don’t Diet - If you’re thinking of going on a diet to lose those extra pounds think again. Long-term weight control through dieting is near impossible, for the simple reason that diets promote only short-term solutions.

On a diet you’ll certainly look lighter on the scales, but in most cases this is because you’ve dumped a few pounds of body fluid, and not because you’ve lost any significant amount of body fat.

Diets Don’t Work - One of the main reasons diets don’t work is because they send the body into starvation mode - a survival mechanism for times when humans faced periods of famine.

Cutting back on our energy intake causes the body to lower its metabolic rate, which reduces its ability to burn fat. At the same time, hunger signals increase and we quickly start to crave high energy foods loaded with fats and sugars - the exact foods we are trying to do without!!!

Diets Put On Weight - Alarmingly, research has shown that repeated dieting actually makes it harder to lose weight and easier to put it on!!

This is because when you dump the diet and return to normal eating habits, the drop in metabolic rate caused by the diet means that your old eating habits actually represent excess in calories. Not only do you regain the fat stores just lost, but also you may even gain a bit extra.

Diets Are Unhealthy - A cycle of rapid weight loss followed by weight gain can lead to loss of lean tissue from your muscles and calcium from your bones.

It also strips the body of essential vitamins and minerals. Too little food means not enough energy for physical activity. Dieting causes your body to conserve energy, making results harder to achieve.

Diets Make Food The Enemy - Food provides nourishment and comfort. Diets can make you afraid to eat, depriving you of one of life’s pleasures.

Going from one failed diet to the next can leave you feeling depressed and create a cycle in guilt battles against food.

A Lifelong Plan - Regular physical activity and a healthy, balanced diet aren’t as glamorous as the quick fixes, but they do get better results.

Start with one extra exercise session and one less fatty takeaway meal per week, and gradually work towards a lifelong plan for achieving your best weight.

Sticking With It - If you change the way you eat or exercise to lose weight, ask yourself this question. Can I see myself sticking to this routine for life!! If the answer is “No” then it’s time to change what you’re doing.

Be Realistic - A realistic weight loss plan is around one to two pounds per week. Fast weight losses are not fat loss but glycogen and water. If you lose weight quickly then you will probable return back to the weight at which you started as quickly as it was lost.

Healthy Eating - Increase the amount of fruits, vegetables, non-fat dairy products, whole grains and beans that you eat. Eliminate calorie-dense foods such as cookies, sugary desserts, chips, fries, pizza, candies, crackers etc.

Research on people who have successfully lost a lot of weight and kept it off long term, shows that the vast majority succeeded by consuming a low fat diet high in fibre coupled with strength training and cardiovascular activity.

Your goal is to start utilizing these tips into your everyday weight loss regime to start losing weight consistently and for good.

Weight Loss Products-the Truth of it All

Weight loss products has become a monstrous industry that, in the late eighties, centered its sights on the easily led and desparate solution seekers in the fitness world. Over the last 20 years there has been amazing advancements in nutrition science. Some good and some not so good. We live in a microwave minded society of “quick, instant, and easy”. Our dietary lifestyles have seen the most dramatic changes with people being on the run with work and play like never before. One detriment is the long standing tradition of sitting down for several meals per day. We have transitioned to an eat on the run crowd and require convenience in everything in everything, including food. This led to poor food choices that has created a fat society. Now the weight loss products industry has come full circle. Eating healthy isn’t always quick and easy. The mutli-billion dollar weight loss products industry would like you to think so but as you’ve been told before-you can’t fool Mother Nature

If you’re one of the millions in this country who are into weight loss products such as diet pills, appetite suppressants, body fat burners, metabolism boosters, fat binders, diuretics, diet drinks, energy drinks, etc… and are routinely feasting on fast foods, you may want to reconsider this lifestyle approach. Looking at what’s happening in the body relevant to weight control, health and well being we’ll start at the point of origin of the natural energy production at the cell level.

Food that is consumed is broken down into its nutrient base and those nutrients are utilized by the cells in producing energy for the body to run on. The challenge we face today is that there are high toxicity levels in most all the weight loss products and fast foods on the market. The damaging energy frequencies, preservatives, and chemicals create these toxins. These toxins create a toxic “bio-film” buildup on every cell wall. This plaque-like substance causes an inefficient nutrient absorption process that often results in the body activating the hunger mechanism causing you to consume even more food to get the necessary nutrients for cellular metabolism. Do you now understand why people are gaining weight like never before and can’t ever seem to get rid of it? The hunger mechanism can’t shut off.

The typical result of the continuous hunger response if being compelled to eat junk food. When we eat junk food the toxins continue to build up around the cells walls and may lead to a lymphatic water build up around the cells. As we continue to crave more food we are in a never ending cycle that the weight loss product and junk food industries bank on. In fact, to speed up that cycle, there are addictive components in many of those products. Because there are preservatives, additives and chemicals in synthetic weight loss products, they actually contribute to this “catch-22″ self-perpetuating cycle. This industry marketing campaign is surprisingly effective, wouldn’t you say?

Let’s not overlook another weight loss methodology-diet pills. I have never seen this approach work. I remember decades ago women who had children would go to their physician for a diet pill to shed off the excess bodyfat that was acquired through pregnancy. These pills were mainly speed and elevated the metabolism via the adrenal glands. Not only are these pills dangerous, they are toxic. So you see that there are some viable solutions in the weight loss products industry but rarely ever when resorting to drugs or processed and chemicalized packaged foods.

So - what’s the answer? The true weight loss products are natural foods and organic foods. There are no gimmicks here. Fat burning is a nutritional biochemical function that requires feeding the body the vital nutrients is needs on a consistent basis so as to allow the body to burn body fat as well as food fuel. A readily available and convenient solution can be found in a quality all natural botanical based supplement that delivers the proper energy producing compounds that cleanses the cell walls and provides the key components of metabolic functioning.

Look to the Chinese as an example of a healthy culture built consuming natural plant based compounds that avoids toxicity challenges and delivers vital nutrients. Their day-to-day diets include such things as garlic, ginger and organic green tea (known to clean cell walls). Check out some of the Chinese Herbs that contain those components, as well as other natural ingredients that advance your health and well being. The information is easily available to you on the internet. When it comes to your health and well being, there is no such thing as: The Quick Fix!

Fast Weight Loss - How To Lose Weight Quickly And Safely?

Losing weight is probably on the top of nearly everyone’s New Year’s resolution this year. This is the year you will get to your goal weight. All you have to do is incorporate these simple steps into your life and I’ll show you how to lose weight.

1) Drink lots of water - Drinking a lot of water (at least six to eight 8-ounce glasses a day) is very important for your health and it will help you shed pounds faster. Water hydrates your body and replenishes your system.

It helps to flush out your intestines of anything that shouldn’t still be there and keeps your liver working like it should. Water will even help your skin, making it clearer, as well as making your hair healthier. Drinking six to eight glasses of water a day may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but it is not that hard at all. The best part about adding more water to your diet is that it will force you to not drink other beverages that are not healthy, such as sodas, juices, coffee, etc.

2) Exercise - Getting your body moving is vital to losing weight. You should start slow, especially if you haven’t exercised in a while. After a couple of weeks of small steps in exercise, such as walking once a day for thirty minutes, you need to start increasing the intensity of your exercise. Increasing the intensity of your exercise and continually challenging yourself will help you lose weight easier, make you feel better, give you more energy and help you drop weight faster than if you just kept doing the same thing.

Plus, it can get rather boring doing the same thing all the time. Changing it up about once a week will keep it fun for you. The key to a good workout routine is doing it at least three times a week (everyday is the best) and including aerobic exercise with weight training, which I will talk about below. Aerobics will help your flexibility, keep your heart healthy, improve your lung function and so much more.

3) Diet - I know, the word sounds daunting, but it’s not about taking away or restricting you. Dieting is about change. You must change the way you think about food, the way you eat and the way you see food. Don’t make any drastic changes, because you will probably not be able to make them and simply get disappointed and that leads to quitting.

Moderation is the key for any diet, for anyone. Add foods to your diet that you never tried before. Eating a variety of healthy foods is extremely important. You should be eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and grains. Change your grains to whole grains, as this is much healthier than processed, refined grains. Eat fish at least twice a week if you can. You can increase your metabolism simply by eating six smaller meals daily rather than three larger meals.

This will also help shrink your stomach so you don’t feel that you need to eat so much in one sitting. There are many healthy snacks out there such as peanuts, vegetables, fruit, yogurt, cheeses, cereals, pretzels and so on. These are also foods you should be able to eat on the go. Food is not your enemy - it is your friend.

Food is what gives us the fuel we need to do what we need to do in a day. However, without exercise, dieting can be frustrating. We need to exercise as well to use those calories and carbohydrates so we can turn our fat into muscle, which brings me to my next point of discussion.

4) Gaining muscle - Gaining muscle just might be the most important aspect of your weight loss plan. With more muscle (even just an added pound of muscle), you will increase your metabolism. By increasing your metabolism, you will be burning fat even when you are sleeping!

With weight training, you can use dumbbells, ankle weights or a resistance workout. This will even help make your bones healthier and stronger. Gaining muscle may be just as important as the fat you lose.

4 Sure-fire Tips for Effective Weight Loss

Are you just plain fed up because you haven’t lost weight for a long time now on that latest fad diet, well please stop! Don’t even think about trying another diet, because it will only produce the same results as you have already seen before.

Have a look at the four sure fire tips found below that are based on “Scientific Principles” that have always been around, but are not followed by the majority of weight loss programs you see these days.

So let’s have a look:

1. Increasing Your Metabolism

In order to produce Sustained, Permanent and Long-Term Weight Loss, it’s imperative that you boost your metabolism. And the most effective way to raise your metabolism is to have a greater proportion of functional muscle on your body.

The only way to build this lean muscle so you can raise your metabolism is through “Strength Training”. There’s no other method that works wonders on the Metabolism like Strength Training.

By performing Strength Training, you’ll effectively increase the amount of functional lean muscle on your body so that your metabolism will elevate.

After a Strength Training session your body will undergo a significant increase or “Spike” in Metabolism, which will allow you to burn much more fat then you were able to before.

2. It’s All About Lean Muscle

“The amount of fat the body can burn is directly related to the more lean muscle your body can hold.”

If your muscle system can sustain more energy and use this energy significantly when performing strength training, then it will be able to burn off the calories you eat and the excess fat on your body.

In other words, if your muscles become stronger and can hold more energy then you should be able to release this energy more efficiently to increase your metabolism, and to burn off excess calories that you have eaten.

Once we can build more lean muscle through our own strength, then our bodies will become more efficient at burning fat.

It’s also the amount of lean muscle on your body that makes you look good Once you burn off the excess fat from your body, the lean muscle underneath your skin will be exposed making you look healthy, energetic, and well toned.

3. Decrease Your Daily Calories

For years now, we have been told to use dieting to rid the excess fat from our bodies.

The trouble with this concept is that the low calorie restricted diet would throw the body into starvation mode, with the body holding onto the fat and using precious muscle tissue for energy.

This would then lower the metabolism causing greater muscle loss and when the diet is broken the unwanted fat would not only return but actually increase because to the lowered metabolism.

The way around this is to cut your daily calorie intake by a small amount of calories only. This will stop any starvation mechanisms from clicking in.

You can do this by making up a seven day eating plan and writing down every thing you eat for the week, and then work out the calories you have eaten with a calorie counter. Divide this figure by seven and you have your daily calorie value.

Decrease daily calorie value by a couple of hundred calories per day and no more. This will generate slow weight loss and the majority will be fat loss only. The daily calories should be consumed during the day with small frequent meals.

4. Fast Walking Burns Fat

All you need to do now is incorporate “Fast Walking” into your weight loss program to hasten the burning of excess fat.

Not only is fast walking better much easier on the hips, but it also produces a greater percentage of fat loss as opposed to jogging or running.

Here are some of the benefits of Fast Walking.

* Easy to Perform

* Most Conventional

* All Natural Body Movement

* Doesn’t Cause Injuries

* Can Be Done Anywhere

* The Best Minimal Effort Exercise for Fat Loss

“I can’t stress enough how Fast Walking is necessary in every weight loss program.”

Your next step? To take what you have just learned and apply them to your weight daily weight loss regime.

Fast Weight Loss - Is It Healthy

Fast weight loss is a myth. It is a lie told to those who want to look good before summer or who want to lose some weight before the prom dance.

However, it would be unhealthy to try to lose weight by starving yourself or going on many of the fad diets that promise that you will lose ten pounds in a week or whatever.

Don’t get discouraged, though. It is very important to lose weight. But it is dangerous to try to lose weight fast.

Since fast weight loss is not good for you, what is the best way to lose weight? If you are obese, the best way to start is to ask your doctor. However, if you only need to lose twenty pounds or so, the best weight loss program is to lose it slow and steady.

The Best Weight Loss Diet

You probably already know that you need to eat fewer calories than what you use up each day. For instance, if you eat 2,000 calories a day you need to be using up more than 2,000.

How do you know if you are using up more than you are taking in? There are charts that will tell you what a typical person your age and your gender should be eating each day. While you are working on losing weight, eat a little bit less than the suggested.

Change the Foods You Eat

What is strongly recommended is to stop eating fatty foods, fried foods, and sugary foods. Reduce as much as possible your intake of fast foods, donuts, and second helpings of desert.

Instead, eat foods that are full of good things such as protein, carbohydrates and vitamins. Simply doing this will help you lose weight. Eat all the vegetables and fruits you want, especially fruits such as watermelon. Watermelon is filling but with very few calories.

Replace sodas with water. Diet sodas are bad for you, and non-diet sodas are even worse. Each can has more than thirty teaspoons of sugar. Water is good for you and has no calories and no sugar. So try to drink at least eight 8-oz glasses and leave sodas alone.

Replacing a diet high in fat and sugar with a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will help a lot in reducing your weight. But there is more that you can do to lose weight.

Moderate Daily Exercise

Combine this healthier diet with moderate daily exercise and you will lose weight at a healthy pace. Continue to eat a healthy diet and to exercise moderately every day and you will keep the extra weight off.

This isn’t a plan for fast weight loss, but it is a plan for healthy weight loss. And once the extra weight is gone, this is an excellent plan to keep yourself fit and trim and feeling good.
