Recovering From A Weight Loss Setback

The dreaded weight loss setback….it happens to each of us at least once on our weight loss journey. We go on vacation have a great time only to come back and step on the scale. When we do, we’ve gained back some weight and are disappointed. Or, you could be an emotional eater who is going through a personal crisis that results in added pounds.

Dealing with a weight loss setback is a part of weight loss and probably happens to everyone at one time or another. There is probably never a time when everything in our life went according to plan. If it does then you need to write a book and let the rest of us know the trick. Assuming that it has not, it is something that we must learn to deal with or it can really bring you down and keep you there.

When this setback occurs you must make a choice between struggling to recover and continuing to slide back into old habits. Before the choice is made, we must realize something about ourselves. It’s okay to slip up. Forgive yourself and forget that it ever happened.

Once you decide to struggle and recover, try to discover what caused the setback in the first place. The answer will help you to avoid repeating the same pattern again. A common cause of setbacks in weight loss is emotional eating. Unfortunately, you don’t find out that you are an emotional eater until you get emotional and begin to eat.

This is not considered normal eating. Emotional eaters eat to relieve stress. You don’t have to be hungry. The act of eating something that pleases you releases those same “feel good” endorphins as exercise. It’s a cruel joke, I know, but there it is. The trick is to pinpoint emotional eating before you’ve gained too much weight.

Find someone to lose weight along with you. They will be able to encourage you and also tell you when you seem to be heading towards another weight loss setback. They can also be helpful by telling you the truth and not just what you want to hear and in turn you can do the same for them. By pointing out the good attributes to someone else, you will learn to do it for yourself.

When it comes to struggling and dealing with weight loss and the inevitable setbacks that come with it, it is never pleasant. As you battle back, your mind may tell you that you messed up. Learn to ignore it by replacing that negative feedback with positive words of encouragement. Accentuate the positive things about yourself. Are you a star at your job? Tell yourself how good you are at what you do. If you have kids, bask in the knowledge that you are a great mom or dad.

Being on a diet and dealing with a Weight loss setback is a process. Even when you lose the weight, you must work to maintain that loss and continue to be healthy and fit. Don’t give up early in the game. Learn to deal with setbacks and get on with working towards your weight loss goals.

Guaranteed Weight Loss Success with a Colon Cleanse

It’s ironic that while society is obsessed with fitness and weight loss, fast food restaurants are more popular than ever and obese childhood obesity are at record highs. It is hardly surprising that the snake-oil purveyors of today are using the same methodology that their distant cousins used in the decades gone by: while in the past any tincture promised to be “love in a bottle” today’s con artist promises that every tincture, mix of pills and caplets, and supplemental regimen spells “weight loss in a bottle.” Of course, considering that weight loss and attractiveness to the opposite sex go hand in hand, perhaps the snake-oil salesmen of old and the modern batch still have a lot more in common than meets the eyes, even though today’s crop is adding an additional step in between supplement and love.

It is, therefore, not surprising that those selling colon cleansers on the internet are often adding claims of startling weight loss to their shticks. Yet as much as one would like to disagree with the clever ‘Net sales people, they do have a point! Here are some startling facts why high quality colon cleanses guarantee weight loss success:

Mathematics bears out the brunt of the argument. Consider an individual who has lived most of her or his life on the typical American diet rich in processed foods, animal fat, sugar, toxins, and other undesirable additives. As the fecal matter becomes compacted in the colon and builds up, the odds are good that after a few decades there will be several pounds of matter stuffed into the colon. When a colon cleanser is used to flush out the matter, pounds upon pounds of waste matter will leave the body, thus making it lighter.

While mathematics showcases that there is a certain weight loss associated with a colon cleansing regimen, the weight loss stops as soon as the colon cleanse is completed, correct? Wrong! The weight loss success continues as the colon is functioning properly! No longer does the body demand more food to feed its organs which are starving for nutrients, but instead the nutrients which are now being ingested are properly absorbed and thus the body signals fullness a lot sooner. While those given to overeating for psychological reasons will still need to deal with behavior modification, those who overate due to bodily demands will find that the weight they have gained will begin to melt away since they are no longer overfeeding their bodies simply to satisfy nutritional needs.

Finally, as the fecal matter and its inherent toxins are made to leave your body, your organs will no longer have to fight the attack of the toxins and their byproducts but instead get back to the tasks they were intended; thus, your kidneys and liver will once again be at peak performance, while your pancreas and stomach will have the ability to deal with the digestion of food properly. Once again this will decrease the body’s perceived need for food intake, since it is no longer in danger of starving for nutrients. Weight loss is inevitable.

Weight Loss: Overweight Teens, Marching to Summer Camps

Weight loss camps, yes, they really do exist. If you’ve heard of training camps, band camps and all sorts of other summers camps then chances are you have an idea already why such summer weight loss camps exists. Various weight loss summer camps have distinct programs. You’ll find camps that offer programs from traditional dieting and exercising to the newest fad in weight loss programs.

A summer weight loss camp in New York, for example, supplements traditional diet and weight loss programs with alternative means of loosing weight. The camp set their priorities to keep their programs enjoyable and entertaining.

The want the teens and kids that enroll in their summer camp to have fun more than anything else. Their programs are spread out to a diversity of extraordinary activities which increases, hastens and maintains the calorie burning process.

And before the summer camp ends, parents and the teens themselves are very happy on the results of their weight loss program. The good thing from these summer camps is that most of their weight loss programs are geared towards continuity. If they decide to stick with their program, they will surely loose weight even after they return to their homes.

It has been observed that traditional diet camps are not producing the desired results. It is therefore important that you choose well which camp you will send your kid to. Look for camps that have great programs and impressive backings from the academe as well as the scientific community.

It is comforting to know that the diet programs your kids or teens will undertake are based on scientific research and meticulous studies. You don’t want to send your kids to a camp which will make them guinea pigs for a new exercise program. You want well established weight loss programs that deliver results.

Aside from diets and exercises, other camps offer skills trainings that will help kids and teens maintain a healthy body all through their life. Some still offers various behavioral therapies that will strengthen their mental and emotional state through whatever kind of issues that might arise from weight gain.

Also, there are summer camps that are specialized for the needs of teens with other issues aside from overweight like such as Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s, obesity, different learning disabilities or behavioral problems. There are camps that will handle the needs of these special kids all the while addressing their problems in weight.

For parents, these camps are God send. It might prove to very difficult for the parents to encourage their teens and kids that are hounded by psychological disorders to loose weight. They sometimes need the experts’ assistance on things.

One other thing the parents should look for in a weight loss camp is the ratio of instructors or counselors to students. The ratio of instructors and counselors to students should be high. By having more than enough instructors, camps will be able to focus on the kids and teens’ programs.

They will make sure that the teens will be following the program correctly and will guide them to the right techniques in order to maximize the results. Expert instructors will make sure that kids and teens as well as their parents and sponsors will leave camp satisfied and have greater self esteem.

Weight loss summer camps are scattered all over the country. There are also winter camps for weight loss. You won’t run out of options when it comes to health camps such as these.

Writing For Your Weight Loss Success

Motivation is one of the key variables for the equation that yields long term weight loss success. The question is how do you maintain the motivation to attain the ultimate goal? Regardless if your weight loss goal is 20 pounds or 100 pounds you must change your thinking to change your behavior and writing makes that happen.

Weight loss really does begin in your head. Every successful athlete understands that his thinking process is either working for him or against him. The same holds true with weight loss. If your internal dialogue is negative, your results will eventually manifest the same result! You can?t degrade yourself to a healthy new you! You must change your thinking to work for you, to build your resolve, and to maintain that all important motivational factor.

Writing is an exercise that will help your mind change its thinking! It allows you to process the negative emotions and helps to instill the positive changes. Start with these simple exercises:

1. The Negative Emotions Daily Dump: Many success coaches advocate writing out your negative thinking on a daily basis. Simply spend approximately 15 minutes writing out all the frustrations, bad feelings, and discouragement. This helps you to process these bad feelings out of your system so that you can make room for positive affirmations. Do not reread the entries and do not keep them. Write it out, and then throw it out. We call this the Negative Emotions Daily Dump.

2. Affirm Your Goals: Prepare a list of affirmations that will help your subconscious work with your conscious brain to make those all important behavioral changes. Then write your affirmations at least twice a day. Write them once after you have written your Negative Emotions Daily Dump. Don?t do the Negative Dump without filling it with the positive affirmations. You should always end with this. Write the second set of affirmations either right before you go to bed or first thing in the morning. Read your affirmations several times a day.

3. Understand your Motivations: In order to stay motivated you must understand your real reasons for losing weight. In other words, understand why YOU want to lose weight. Not why your spouse or friends want you to lose weight but why losing the weight is important to you. Do you really want more energy? Do you just love skinny clothes? Do you want to participate in an activity that would be easier if you were slim and healthy? Write these motivations out in detail so that you can solidify them in your head and they can continue to motivate you through the entire weight loss journey.

4. Accountability: Keep a food diary. Keeping a food diary has been proven time and time again to increase your weight loss success by as much as 50%! A food log is your accountability factor. It keeps you honest with yourself.

5. Visualize: Visualize yourself enjoying the portions of your weight loss program that you are currently struggling to do. For instance if you hate the cardio portion of your day, start seeing yourself loving it. See it as ??your time?. It can be your time to read while you?re on the stationary bike. Or your time to watch all those movies you feel guilty watching any other time. Once you begin to visualize positive feelings about a certain activity the easier that activity will become.

6. The Pat-On-The-Back: Keep a written log of your weight loss success. By writing down your weight loss on a weekly basis you are validating your efforts and giving yourself a pat-on-the-back. This will go a long way to keeping you on track.

Keep in mind that if you are utilizing the assistance of a personal fitness trainer or weight loss professional that they may use techniques to help you face your self-defeating habits. This might feel harsh and negative, however it isn?t. Honesty is necessary to motivate change and this is different than running yourself down! Sometimes we have to hear the hard words to make the hard changes. Keep in mind that these professionals are seeking your ultimate success. Your success is their success. Let?s face it, the weight gain started with you and to change that behavior you may have to deal with some uncomfortable feelings. A good trainer will help you feel cared about while still insisting that you deal with your bad habits. It?s a good thing to be pushed past your comfort zone to becoming a better you!

Writing is the new ?exercise? that can make all the rest of your weight loss efforts including good nutrition, exercise, and resistance training work for you because you will be working with these principles instead of against them. You will start seeing these weight loss techniques as a positive and permanent part of your life, instead of a temporary device. That will result in faster results that last forever!

Conjugated Linoleic Acid and Weight Loss

It is well known that with the growing awareness regarding the harmful effects of obesity, scores of weight loss supplements have flooded the market and while some of these are quite effective, a whopping majority of these products are not at all useful in causing weight loss. On the other hand, they have several side effects and are at times quite harmful for the body. Therefore, it is usually advised that before investing on these weight loss supplements which provide rapid weight loss opportunities, one should be conducting a proper research and most importantly consider the guidelines set down by the US FDA i.e. the Food and Drugs Administration. There are several products which have been sanctioned by the FDA to be sold with or without a prescription. Among the few weight loss supplements which are allowed to be sold without a prescription, one of the foremost is Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA. A lot of research work has been carried out in by various researchers and this has revealed that conjugated linoleic acid is extremely beneficial in reducing weight by causing loss of body fat. While excess fat is lost by means of increased fat metabolism, conjugated linoleic acid is also extremely helpful in aiding the preservation of muscles and muscle tissues. Moreover, it is instrumental in lowering the triglyceride and blood sugar level in the body. According to the researchers, it has been proved beyond doubt that the conjugated linoleic acid helps in securing weight loss at a much faster rate and moreover it has been estimated roughly that compared to the other manifold weight loss supplements available, this confirms more weight loss by about 6 pounds and the rate of losing weight with the consumption of conjugated linoleic acid is definitely much more faster. For attaining best results, about 3.4 grams of conjugated linoleic acid needs to be consumed on a daily basis.

One of the most significant functions of the conjugated linoleic acid is that not only does it facilitate weight loss, on the other hand it has various beneficial effects on the body unlike most of the weight loss supplements which are more prone to cause harm that benefits. Conjugated linoleic acid apart from aiding weight loss strengthens the immunity system of the body and plays a significant role in the reduction of fat which accumulates in excess around the abdomen area. The inclusion of conjugated linoleic acid in one’s diet can work wonders by aiding weight loss considerably.

Weight Loss Unintentional Ways To Keep Under Check!

All experts agree that motivation is the single greatest factor to lose weight. If there is strong enough commitment, then the individual will find ways to lose fat, whether it is to join a group exercise for weight loss, or change diet to include nutrition for weight loss.

Understanding weight loss metabolism

To understand the weight loss metabolism, one must track the calorie intake and find out how the food is being used by the body, if it is stored as fat, or being burnt up. Further, if the food is being used up, how much is being used effectively. Increasing physical activity is a great way to boost the weight loss metabolism, as one gets to keep the muscular tissues instead of the fat deposits. Visiting the gym regularly, or joining a sports club, or even simple walking can tone the body and keep up the weight loss motivation. The main thing is to stay on the program, or every try out additional programs with the single aim of losing fat and sustaining the lost weight. Yo-yo dieters who lose weight and then put it back on equally fast are prone to health problems compared to those who stick to a weight loss exercise program like yoga or aerobics, or a weight loss nutrition plan like a vegan diet.

Unintentional weight loss

All these are ways to keep the weight in check, but sometimes, unintentional weight loss happens when one is not tying to lose weight voluntarily, and could be a medical condition. Unexplained, unintentional weight loss often heralds serious illness and should be reported to a healthcare professional. Illness, depression, alcoholism, or medication could also result in unintentional weight loss. The loss of weight and lack of nutrition associated with a chronic illness is referred to as cachexia.

Be yourself

Weight loss should be for the betterment of ones well being and health not because one wants to be like someone else. Non-achievement of goals can result in loss of self-esteem, so it is a good idea to set realistic goals with reasonable time limits. While having that hot beach body can be alluring, remember it takes much self-discipline to get the kind of physique and weight possessed by models. Maintaining the ideal body weight with weight loss nutrition, healthy eating, including weight loss exercises in the daily routine can go a long way in a long, vigorous and disease free life!!

What to Do When your Bbw Wants to Lose Weight?

There may come a time in your relationship with a big beautiful woman where she utters the most awful of four letter words - diet. Even though you love the size and shape of your large and lovely lady it doesn’t matter unless she feels the same way about herself. So what happens when she wants to lose weight and you want her to stay where she is? Her weight is part of the reason you were attracted to her in the first place and you worry that if that changes it will end your love affair. It’s similar to how a man who likes long hair would feel if his girl got a pixie cut or when a guy who likes petite women falls in love with someone who starts to gain weight. But in all those situations the key is that even though you are in love you aren’t in possession of another persons body. They still have the right to make their own choices. By trying to manipulate them into doing what you want you are showing disrespect for your woman and your relationship.

Your first instinct may be to try and sabotage her efforts to lose weight. Don’t do it. You go out and stock the freezer with chocolate ice cream and stock the pantry with her favorite chips and dip. All that temptation will likely work if your goal is just to get her to fail to reach her goals, but the cost will be too great. By going behind her back and not supporting her in her goals you will be doing great harm to your relationship. It’s understandable that you might feel upset or scared when your big beautiful woman says she wants to lose weight.

The best way to be supportive is by figuring out why they want to lose weight. If they are doing it because they want to conform for some societal standard of beauty then you can help by focusing on how big is beautiful and feminine and how it is more womanly to be shapely than to look like an emaciated teenage boy. This will strengthen your relationship and will make her abandon the diet. Maybe they want to lose weight to fit into a certain dress or for a special occasion. In that case usually we are talking about just 10 or 15 pounds and not a huge change. Being helpful by making low calorie foods and going for romantic walks together will help you grow as a couple as you reach that goal.

Often times the desire to lose weight may come because of health concerns. There is nothing inherently unhealthy about being a big woman as long as your blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure are all normal. The idea that thinner is healthier isn’t always true. If your lady’s main concern is health then you can encourage her to start eating more fruits and veggies, cutting back on sugar, and adding exercise to your daily routine. These small changes may result in a few pounds lost but more importantly it will lead to a longer and better quality of life all without having to resort to becoming a waif. These activities are good for you too. Think of it as taking action to live a longer life together. It is possible to be big, beautiful, and healthy but it will take your love and support.

When your large and lovely lady wants to slim down don’t look at it as the end of your relationship and don’t try and get in the way of her goals. Through communication and support you will be able to help her achieve her goals, of better self esteem or a healthier lifestyle, without losing her or too much of the body you’ve come to love. If you just can’t accept that your woman wants to change then you need to take a step back and examine your relationship. Are you in love with a person or just her weight?

Weight Loss Without Fuss

Weight loss does not happen in a vacuum. There are conditions that impelled it. Without weight gain, there will not be a discussion about weight loss. A good starting point in the desire to loose weight is to first figure out where we went wrong. Is it in our diet? Is it in not moving enough? How much of a roll does genetics play in our weight loss? The individual desiring to loose weight must of necessity ask oneself some of these questions and honestly seek to find proven and tested answers.

Where did I go wrong?

Much of America as we know today is overweight. Some reports say a whooping 2/3 of the population is either just obese or morbidly obese. They also show that our food and diet are the main culprits for this epidemic. There is a saying that says, “You are what you eat”. It is therefore self evident that we have not eaten the right things in the right amounts. We have been lax with our diet. Knowing this, it would appear that loosing weight would be as simple as doing the opposite of what we have done so far. And for many, weight loss would simply mean just that- eating the right things in the right amount and being patient to give the body time to work itself out. And over time, the weight will drop off.

But we live in a complex world and things are not always as simple as they seem. There are old habits to break, and emotions to deal with. There is the issue of time, and availability of the right foods at the right place and time. There are genetic dispositions that sometimes work against our best efforts in weight loss. There is also the noise in the diet and weight loss industry generated by the dizzying number of weight loss products and the claims and counter claims made by the beneficiaries of these weight loss products and programs. The individual desiring to loose weight is therefore faced not only with the weight that he or she needs to loose, but how to approach his or her weight loss goal within such a confusing environment?

The trick is to get back to the basics of weight loss by:

1.  Doing all things in moderation. I believe that nothing eaten in moderation will in and of itself become a problem. It is when we over indulge and make a hobby of some foods that we open ourselves for weight problems.

2. Making wise food choices. Instead of loading up on over processed foods laden with sugar, fat and carbohydrates, we can instead load up on foods with high fiber contents as these give a sense of fullness with minimal intake.

3. Drinking sugar free liquids in-between bite as this helps to give us that sense of fullness, without necessarily consuming much.

4. Not being a mindless eater. Mindless eating can be avoided by being aware of what you are eating and how much. Make it a habit to use smaller plates for your servings. Chew your food completely and quit at the first sign of fullness.

5. Ridding your environment of the temptation of mindless eating. According to a recent survey by a popular media house, just by merely moving the candy jar a few feet away from its location, reduced the amount of candy the participants consumed.

6. Only stocking foods that are nutritionally healthy and balanced.

7. Getting enough sleep and

8. Keeping on moving. Be active! Exercise! Activities as simple as just working are very beneficial. Walk to the neighborhood store. Park a little away from the office and walk the rest of the way.

For the morbidly obese, who need to loose more weight, additional help may be necessary. Getting a health or colon cleanse would be a good place to start. The colon, it has been established plays a significant role in maintaining a healthy digestive system and body functions. A toxic and diseased colon creates an imbalance in the body, leading to increased fat deposits, especially around the organs. A health or colon cleanse helps to remove toxins from the body and restores the normal functions of the digestive track and colon, leading to better absorption and removal of fat deposits, especially around the organs.

Weight loss surgery may also be considered where everything else fails. Because of the risk associated with surgeries generally, bariatrics or weight loss surgery should be considered with extreme care. A complete risk benefit analysis must be carried out before a final decision is made. Choose the procedure with the list risk and the most benefits.

How your Health Changes After Weight Loss

There is a shift in attitude towards weight loss these days. More and more people understand that it doesn’t matter how thin you look if you are not a healthy human being. Losing weight is no longer a matter of looking good, it’s a matter of being healthy, happy and free to live your life anyway you choose.

So is it really worth the trouble to join a hard-to-follow weight loss program? What benefits can you expect when you lose weight? And, more importantly perhaps, what benefits can you expect if you reach your goal and lose weight?

There are many “before and after weight loss” stories and some are truly inspiring and play an important support role for people who struggle with extra pounds. But no matter how many stories you will read and how much inspiration you can get from them, nothing will prepare you for how you will feel once you’ve reached your goals.

Before weight loss most all the people complain about the same things: they feel down, sexually and socially unattractive, they feel inferior, they lack will power, etc. After weight loss they expect to feel the exact opposite, but it doesn’t happen like this all the time. So what can you realistically expect in your life after successfully losing weight?

Losing weight will boost your confidence levels to an all time high and not only because you look better and you feel better, but also because you were able to achieve your goal and worked hard to get there! Even if you only lose one size in clothes, it’s still a huge achievement. It gives you the strength to continue a healthy lifestyle. And this is the most important change that happens after you lose weight.

Don’t expect to become a sexbomb overnight, that’s not going to happen. Your friends and family and all the people will perceive you exactly as you were before, only thinner. What it is going to happen is that you will realize that life can be fun even if you eat more veggies and less burgers. It will be fun to find that you enjoy more time with your dog and kids, because you won’t feel tired after a 5 minutes of leisurely walk. It will be fun to coach your nephews for their next crucial soccer game and it will be a whole lot of fun to enjoy sex with your partner for a longer time.

The changes in your appearance may not be very dramatic at first, but what you have to aim for is a change in the way you look at yourself and live your life. Once you are able to find a new balance and new things to enjoy, you will forget all about eating and lazing all day long in a couch!

Before weight loss you wanted a big change in your life. No matter how little weight you lose, that change will be there and you can start to enjoy a new lifestyle. The most important gift you can make yourself is to celebrate the new you after weight loss and make yourself in style for the rest of your life.

10 Ways to Lose Weight

Here are some ways to lose weight that should help you achieve your weight loss goals. Some are very simple but you might not have thought of them. Others are a little more challenging, but worth the effort.

1. Make the decision to lose weight.

At first this may seem like a silly statement, but to be successful at anything, you have to make the decision that it is something important to you. If you really want to lose weight, then you need to make up your mind that you are going to do so and be determined in your pursuit of success.

2. Avoid the all or nothing mentality.

Let me give you an example. Have you even been on a diet and then you gave in to the craving for a cookie? Then after you ate the cookie, you decided that since you had already ruined your diet, that you would just eat whole bag of cookies. That is what is meant by all or nothing mentality. Realize that, as in most other endeavors, you are not going to be perfect at sticking to your diet, but do not let one slip send you into an eating binge. If you fall off the diet wagon, get right back on and put the rest of those cookies back in the cabinet.

3. Research diet plans and choose one that fits your goals and lifestyle.

Do not choose a diet just because it is the latest fad or because your friends are doing it or a popular celebrity is endorsing it. Make sure that the plan is one that you believe you can stick to based on your weight loss goal, your food tastes and your lifestyle.

4. Find time to exercise even if it is only a few minutes a day.

Even if you do not have time to go to a gym and do a planned program, try to find ways that you can integrate exercise into your everyday routine such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking further away so that you have to walk further to your car.

5. Keep a food diary.

This does not have to be a time consuming affair where you write down your feeling while you were eating, etc. Just taking a few minute to write down what you eat and then reading over that list at the end of the day can be a real eye opener. You may not realize just how many calories you are eating per day until you see it in writing.

6. Find a partner for support.

Finding a diet or work out partner will help keep you motivated. Most people do much better at achieving goals if they have the support of someone else.

7. Take a before weight loss photo.

You may not want to do this because if you are overweight, you are probably avoiding cameras, but at a later point when you have lost some weight, it will help you to see what you have achieved.

8. Set short term goals.

If you focus on losing 50 pounds, you can easily get discouraged, so focus on achieving smaller goals such as 5 pounds. If you keep reaching your small goals, before you know it, you will have reached your long term goals.

9. Reward yourself for success (but not with food).

Give yourself a reward for reaching a short term goal. For example, you can go to a movie you want to see, buy a new outfit, or get a massage. Just do not use food as a reward.

10. Do not let other people discourage you.

If you tell other people that you are trying to lose weight, some of them will probably be less than supportive or want to tell you about their failed efforts and make you feel like you will fail also. Realize that there are other people that just do not like to see anyone achieve success or that are just negative people in general and do not let those people get you down.

These are ways to lose weight that are effective but not dependent on any particular diet plan, so no matter what you are doing to try to achieve your weight loss goals, these ways to lose weight should help you to achieve them.
