Why Diet Foods Are A Joke

Let me tell you something REALLY funny…

Really, though, this is a real knee-slapper…

It’s about that person who goes out to eat and orders a:

-big, juicy cheeseburger

-french fries

-a side order of mozzarella sticks

-with a nice piece of cheesecake for dessert

All washed down with their favorite Hollywood diet drink.

Wait a minute….

I’m not done laughing.

Hold on.

Just a little longer.

Ok, ok, I’m fine now.

I will never understand why people think or feel that ordering a diet drink with their massive amount of fatty, unhealthy food will get them anywhere.

The sad thing is, is that they are REALLY convincing themselves that they are doing something good for their body, so they will inevitably do it over and over and over again.

You’re not one of those people, are you?

Good, I didn’t think so.

Just in case you are and you’re not telling me (shame on you, lol)…let’s work on fixing this problem immediately.

Unfortunately, this is what the multi, multi, multi-million dollar business of “diet foods” is doing to you.

They are tricking you into thinking that you are doing something “healthy” for yourself……

When in reality you are doing nothing, or even worse, you are making yourself infinitely unhealthier.

Onward.

I can literally go on and on and on about this seemingly forever, but let me give you a quick example.

Let’s say you like a certain carbonated beverage.

Ok, so you decide to buy the “diet” version of this beverage.

Maybe because it has 1 calorie.

Or maybe because it has artificial sweeteners instead of sugar (hint hint: it still isn’t good for you).

Whatever.

The point is that, “diet” or not, this beverage has many, many ingredients that you need to stay far away from.

Because if you can look me in the eye and tell me that aspartame (the key ingredient in diet drinks instead of sugar), is going to help you get lean……………

Then I have some oceanfront property in Arkansas that I’d love to sell you.

And it’s on sale this week……..just for you.

And whether you believe all of the medical studies about aspartame (and its buddies) or not…….I can guarantee you one thing…

It sure as heck will never help you lose weight or get in shape.

But it very well give you a false sense of security into drinking all of these diet drinks day in, day out, month in, month out, year in, year out….

You get the point.

And when somebody comes along and definitively proves that aspartame is horrifically bad for you……….

Uhhh-Oh.

Somebody’s in trouble.

And it ain’t me.

But hey, you’re a smart person….you would never drink those carbonated drinks anyway.

Right?

Right?

Good, I didn’t think so.

But, just in case, you know of a “friend” who practices this unhealthy behavior…just tell them I said that downing these so-called “diet” drinks will lead them to everywhere except where they want to be in life.

More specifically, to their local doctors, specialists, and hospitals.

You can also give them this special tip…….

If they are so hard up for some extra sugar in their life,

Just make themselves a cup of green tea, and add a spoonful or two of sugar in it.

Hands down, this beats any diet drink recipe 10 times out of 10.

Menopause Weight Gain - You Can Lose It

It’s probably safe to assume that the reason you found this article is because you’ve gradually, but progressively gained some unwanted weight, especially around your mid-section. This is somewhat surprising since you’ve not necessarily changed your lifestyle or eating habits. As a matter of fact, there’s a good chance you’ve even cut your caloric intake, but still the weight remains. Could this weight gain be associated with menopause? If you’re a woman in your thirties of forties, the answer is “yes - most definitely.” Weight gain, as you approach menopause, is quite common and often one of the first symptoms of menopause that women notice. This is true even if you’re still experiencing regular periods.

You see, as you approach menopause your body’s hormone levels are declining, thus causing many changes to occur. As your estrogen levels decline, your body will naturally look for other places from where to get the needed estrogen. Unfortunately, fat cells are capable of producing estrogen, which results in your body working harder to convert calories to fat.

In addition to the declining levels of estrogen, your body’s testosterone levels are also declining. As you may know, testosterone is the hormone that converts your calories to lean muscle mass. Obviously, with lower testosterone levels you’re now losing muscle mass. Since muscle burns far more calories than does fat, your body is no longer capable of burning calories the way it used to.

As you can see, your declining hormone levels are the main culprit behind all of the weight gain you’re now noticing. Don’t think for one minute that you need to accept or welcome this unwanted enemy because you can easily lose this menopausal weight gain. I recently published some inspirational quotes on my website to assist women in their everyday lives. One of my favorites comes to mind when I think about what makes so many women complacent when they’re faced with symptoms of menopause and weight gain. Jim Rohn once said “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” If your goal is to lose the weight you’ve gained, the only thing that can possibly stop you from accomplishing this goal is a lack of discipline.

If you’re willing to put your discipline into high gear you will undoubtedly lose the weight you’ve gained due to declining hormone levels associated with menopause. It’s important that you understand what’s taking place inside your body so that you’re well aware that simply cutting calories will not significantly reduce or eliminate the weight around your mid-section. You must build muscle to turn your body into a calorie-burning machine. You needn’t be extreme, but an exercise routine that includes weight training at least three days a week will give you results that will astonish you.

Remember, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” Don’t be complacent. You’re headed in the right direction because you researched the Internet seeking information regarding weight gain during menopause. Consider this the first step in your walk across the bridge to accomplishment.

Are There Diets To Control High Blood Pressure?

High blood pressure can be a serious health problem.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a common risk factor for heart disease and kidney disease and a host of other health problems.

Heart disease remains the number one killer of adults in the U.S. and one in four adults have high blood pressure as a health issue.

Some adults are aware of their high blood pressure and the health issues it can cause, and others are not.

High blood pressure can’t be cured, but it can be managed with medications, a healthy diet, and moderate exercise, among other things.

There are many things that a person who has high blood pressure can do.

One of them is to eat a healthy diet.

But what does a healthy diet mean?

Reduce the fat that you eat – Reduce your intake of fried foods. Grill, stew, bake instead.

Stick with unsaturated fats (Monounsaturated & Polyunsaturated). Studies have shown that these fats actually lower the LDL (the bad stuff) cholesterol and maintain HDL (the good stuff) cholesterol.

Start having low fat dairy product, i.e. 1% – 2% fat milk, cottage cheese, yogurts. Even try non-fat dairy products.

Increase the amount of fiber that you consume – Have five helpings of fruit and vegatables each day.

Have wholegrain and/or fiber enriched breads.

Have wholegrain cereals (shredded wheat, bran flakes and oatmeal)

Limit your intake of salt – one way to do this is to use spices, herbs and salt-free seasoning blends in cooking and at the table.

A healthy diet is one that is low in calories and fat, because one way to lower high blood pressure naturally is to lose weight.

If a person maintains a healthy weight, they can often lower their blood pressure without the aid of medication.

A person who has high blood pressure who wishes to have better health should drink alcoholic beverages in moderation, or not at all.

Some experts have also suggested taking a dietary supplement that is rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium and fish oils.

These things can also be found in a healthy diet in varying amounts.

A person with high blood pressure should consult their doctor and then meet with a nutritionist to learn about the kind of diet and foods they should be eating.
